mind.drawing.art.Have you ever thought you were going to be sick? Maybe you were around people who were feeling “under the weather” and you just knew you would become sick too…it was only a matter of time. And then a day later you are in fact coughing, sneezing, and blowing your nose constantly.

What about spontaneous weight gain or random acne break outs when you are feeling stressed. Smiling when you hear or see something that makes you feel happy. Your stomach feeling like its turning in knots when you are nervous about doing something. Your heart racing when you are excited or frightened. The feeling of butterflies in your body during a first date. Does any of this sound familiar?

As you can see, the mind isn’t just a place where you think; it’s so much more than that. Your mind is an incredibly important tool, it has the power to control the way you act physically. When you drive and approach a red light, your mind tells your body to put your foot on the break in order to stop. Your mind controls everything you do.

Have you even been so worried about something that you actually feel sick to your stomach? Are you constantly stressing about your grade in a class, your job performance, people’s opinions of you, etc? It’s important to realize the negative role that stress can have on your body. Worrying about something woman.thinking.mind.happens in the mind. Everyone worries but excessively worrying can cause your body to react in ways you could never imagine.

Stress is known as the “silent killer” because it can really affect our overall health. Stress has been connected to cancer, suicide, and heart disease. It can cause weight gain, acne, and hair loss. Stress can make your body feel weak and useless. But, the most important thing to know about stress is that it’s all in our head.

These are only a few examples of how your mind and body are truly connected to one another. Everything your body does is connected to your mind. You may not even realize how much your mind plays a role in how your body is feeling at any given time. Have you heard the phrase “positive thoughts equal positive results?” The thoughts you have create the way your body exists in this world. Treat your body just as well as you treat your mind.
