Instant Gratification – Facial Treatment

One of the perks about publishing a woman’s magazine is that I am constantly introduced to beauty treatments, products and services.  Today was a particularly good day as I was treated to a special facial from Sara Larkin, Dr. Semone Rochlin’s esthetician.  I was impressed with her knowledge and understanding as I have much more to deal with than most women with a little wrinkle here or patch of acne there.

I had the right side of my cheek taken off last year due to skin cancer.  It has taken nearly ten months and multiple procedures to put me back together again.  I lost so much skin that I have two skin grafts on my face which are a much rougher texture and very red. I have been looking for a procedure that would soften the skin without having to have additional surgery.

Sara explained to me that she was going to do a combination dermaplane and lactic peel for me.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the combination of the two procedures are heralded to be the best possible ways to exfoliate and thus soften and reduce the texture of my skin graft.

Dermaplaning removes the dead skin cells that dull your complexion and keep you from the dewy glow and youthful complexion we all miss.  Sara uses a special blade that removes the coarse top layer of skin as well as the peach fuzz that seems to come as we get older (No worries, however, the hair will NOT grow back thicker as some mistakenly believe).  Next, Sara applies a lactic peel that further exfoliates and allows your skin to absorb the fabulous moisturizers that our skin so desperately needs in this hot and dry desert climate.

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical that such a non evasive procedure could help me with my issue but I have to say that I can’t wait for the next one.  Sara explained the more I do it the better my results will be.  I have to say I am thrilled and will be going back monthly.  Even with my problem skin I was able to receive instant gratification so I know that it will be amazing for anyone.
