Congratulations!

Smartfem is proud to present our September Woman of the Month Award to:

Debbie Gaby

When Debbie Gaby co-founded Sleep America nearly 16 years ago she dreamed of providing a good night’s rest at an affordable price. It is pretty easy to see that her staff and herself deliver that each day with every customer, but along with that service comes their large hearts; volunteering and working with countless charities and nonprofits throughout Arizona.

Lea and Debbie shared laughs throughout the interview

“I remembered the days when we went back to school shopping and getting a new outfit and the tools to go back to school and those are imperative. One day over at the Grand Canyon school they come through and they get dresses and shoes and underwear and to be a small part of that is so unbelievable,” Gaby said. “These kids are no different than us, they were just born under a different umbrella.”

Some charitable organizations that Gaby works with throughout the valley include: the Andre House, Sojourner Center, Girls Ranch Inc. of Arizona and Florence Crittendon Services. Gaby is hands on with the organizations and she also donates many items.

“We just donated over 600 backpacks to the Salvation Army,” Gaby said.

Gaby is also excited for the quickly approaching Sleep America Charities Seventh Biennial Golf Tournament. Gaby has gathered support from countless businesses to participate in the feel good event, featuring special guest Alice Cooper!

While Gaby does enjoy her work with charities, she does balance that with her job as President of Sleep America. The retailer is rapidly expanding with ventures spanning into multiple states and internationally.

“We want to be the dominant mattress retailer,” Gaby said. “…Running a clean business is what really sets us apart.”

Some may wonder how Debbie Gaby does it all, but she knows that she can’t because of one factor, time.

“Time, time is the only thing that we need more of!” Gaby insisted. Gaby said she doesn’t feel she will ever stop working, and is thankful she does something she loves and is passionate about.

“This part of my life is gratifying. Whether I am giving a bed or selling a bed I feel like I am helping someone,” Gaby said. Debbie Gaby gracefully balances her life as a businesswoman with her charity work to bring smiles across the faces of sleepers across the state and soon across the nation.
