For Doris Baines, writing Christmas Traditions and Legends was a personal labor of love that led to widespread publicity. More than a decade of careful research to answer one granddaughter’s question about how mistletoe became a Christmas tradition has resulted in a book with thousands of copies sold, dozens of book signing events and several television appearances, including the Today Show on Christmas Day.

Doris’s goal is to bring enjoyment, education and Christmas magic to the lives of readers of all ages. It’s an effect she says she experienced for herself: “Christmas has meant more to me because of this book.”

Doris currently lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. with her husband, a retired lawyer. She attended the University of Washington at age 50, where she studied communications and launched a career in public relations. She is an active member of Creative Women of Pinnacle Peak, an Arizona organization that raises money for local charities.

People of all ages can enjoy dozens of Christmas stories from around the world, learn the origins of favorite holiday traditions and be delighted by more than 100 gorgeous, color illustrations.

Richard Ferguson

Illustrator

Richard Ferguson is a nationally published Designer and Illustrator. He is known for his award-winning illustration in magazines and books, as well as his book designs. While fully experienced with conventional airbrush, oil, watercolor and pencil illustration, he also works with electronic mediums. Using a blend of original photography, drawing and computer painting, he creates artistic digital illustrations.

Richard is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a BFA in drawing and painting. He is married and has three children: Jennifer, Jason and Samuel. Richard’s studio is located in Portland, Oregon.
