This made me laugh so hard I snorted. Dads just don't know what to do with us daughters sometimes, do they? When I was a kid, I was so tiny for my age that I was hopeless in sports. I was always picked last for kickball. My dad's advice for me was to catch the ball and sit on it. To this day, I have no idea what he hoped for me to achieve by sitting on the kickball in the middle of a game. I'm afraid to ask him because any explanation would ruin the elaborate fantasy explanation in my head.

Jo, it could be worse you could take after the Mangan's....lol It sounds like your dad could take after his father. Bud and Viv paneled the downstairs and put up fish and of course lots of Schmidt beer signs and thought they were superstars. They even had a keg fridge--that is still down there, but quit working decades ago. And I think there is still a set or two of Encyclopedias from the 50's--just in case...lol I remember when you were born though, your parents actually made money off the insurance companies since both your parents carried you. I don't know who thought it was cooler. I remember when I started babysitting you, your dad must have gone over how to lock the deadbolt from the inside 100 times.
