Canadian Immigration Site Crashes As Americans Search How To Move To Canada

Immigration CanadaThat just happened.

Americans elected Donald Trump to be their next president.

Amidst all the nail-biting anxiety of the incredibly close race, Business Insider reported that the Government of Canada’s immigration website had officially crashed due to a high volume of traffic.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the site was inaccessible. The sudden crash could only be attributed to the many Americans attempting to access information on how to immigrate to Canada.

A November 6 story published on Business Insider’s website titled, “How to move to Canada and become a Canadian citizen,” became the top story of the night.

This is not the first time interest in moving to Canada has spiked.

During the primary election coverage of Super Tuesday, Google reported the highest spike in searches for “How to move to Canada” since 2004.

Currently, Canada’s immigration site is up and running.

For those who like a fast-track approach to learning their new plan for emigration, Business Insider also published a fun video on steps to take to move to Canada.

And if you’re having a hard time choosing which province to head to, don’t forget about Cape Breton.

An island off the eastern coast of Canada, Cape Breton is currently welcoming Americans looking to flee the U.S.

The island’s site, “Cape Breton if Donald Trump Wins,” was originally created as a joke, but is receiving thousands of inquiries about how to relocate, according to CBC News.

Apparently Cape Breton is having a bit of a population issue, so Americans are welcome to help fill the void.
