Ditch These Items From Your Closet

I try to make it a habit to go through my closet at least twice a year and clean it out. That means getting rid of items that I either haven’t worn in a while, or clothing that has seen better days.

But if you are someone who has a hard time parting with things like clothes, here are a few fool-proof items to get rid of that will make your closet cleaner and the letting go process easier.

Clothing that is torn or stained

This one should be easy, especially if you get anxiety over parting with your clothing. T-shirts, sweaters, pants and pretty much anything else that has holes, stains, and obvious wear to it should go. No need to hold on to clothing that has served its purpose and seen better days.

That “I’ll wear it one day” clothing stash

We all have that little stash of clothing that we are saving for that special day, or for when we hit our goal weight. Fact is, rarely do we end up picking a piece of clothing from that stash and actually wearing it. As sad as it may be, it’s time to get rid of that little clothing stash. It’s only taking up precious real estate anyway.

Clothes that don’t fit well

It’s time to toss that pair of jeans that are just not flattering and most likely uncomfortable. We all want to look and feel great, and an easy way to do that is to get rid of clothing that just doesn’t fit well. Ill fitting blouses, jeans that are too tight, frumpy dresses or jackets, get rid of them and invest in pieces that are good quality and fit. The size on that tag shouldn’t hold any merit. Clothing that fits will make you look slimmer than clothing that is too tight.

Clothing that is not age appropriate

Okay, so that pink tank top reminds you of your favorite summer night five years ago around the bonfire, but do you look completely inappropriate when wearing it now? As we grow up and mature our style should, too. That means there are certain styles of clothing we just shouldn’t be trying to wear. Honestly, why would we? We should be happy that we are evolving and growing up. Let your style shine through with age appropriate clothing.
