Along with transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall you must also keep in mind your make-up.With my hectic schedule I find it easiest to keep most of my make-up fairly neutral, but one thing I love to play around with is my lipstick!

Most people underestimate the magnitude that a great lipstick evokes, and many just forget to wear it all together. But, this is a mistake! Putting on lipstick can take about 2 minutes, it can enhance a plain T-shirt and shorts outfit by adding that extra depth – it makes you look put together even when you aren’t. I don’t know about you, but if taking two minutes to swipe some color onto my lips can change by whole look, I don’t see a reason to not.

If you do decide to go with a bold lip this fall, here are a few things to keep in mind:

•  Exfoliation is key when choosing to accentuate your lips! I know you exfoliate your face, and if you don’t already please start doing so as soon as possible, but did you know you should also exfoliate your lips. Now you can do this two ways – one would be to lightly exfoliate your lips with the same product you use on your face, but make sure to be extremely gentle when doing so, your lips are a little more sensitive than the rest of your face. Or, you can buy a lip exfoliation treatment, I use philosophy’s kiss me | exfoliating lip scrub. I am not sure how often you are supposed to do it, but I have a Sunday ritual which includes this treatment.

•  Another key factor to think about when choosing to showcase those kissers would be the moisturizing. After you exfoliate your lips are super smooth, but not extremely moisturized. I always follow up my lip exfoliation with philosophy’s kiss me tonight | intense lip therapy. This product is seriously magical – I not only use it during my Sunday beauty ritual, but I also apply it every time I brush my teeth, this way my lips are always moist and plump!

Now that your lips are ready for the spotlight, it is time to show them off! Three colors on the runway for the fall season were orange, red and wine! If you want to try all three, you go girl! You have a lot more guts than I do, as I chose to incorporate the wine hue into my routine. I sampled about eight different shades before I found my favorite, but (insert color here) stole my heart and I instantly felt connected to it. I know that may sound slightly crazy, but when you find a good lipstick, I promise you can just feel it.

This fall when I apply it I just have a little extra bounce in my step, it almost is my little super boost of confidence! Even if I am just running a few errands in a pair of skinny jeans, a white T-shirt and a pair of flats I know that with my lipstick on it makes me feel like I’m wearing a haute couture gown, and what lady doesn’t love that feeling!
