Everyone seems to always be looking for the next best thing and boba might just be it! Boba tea, also referred to as pearl milk tea or bubble tea, is a beverage of Taiwanese descent, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Typically, boba teas are dairy based teas in which small chewy tapioca balls or fruit jellies are added. The gummy balls sinkboba feature to the bottom of the cup once added and while drinking your beverage they sporadically make it up into your mouth through the straw. Common flavors of bubble tea include Thai black tea, milk-tea, cream green tea and even chai tea. But, your options aren’t limited to just those! Many shops offer alternatives to the traditional boba tea, these include fruit juices, fruit smoothies, and milkshake variations. Once a base such as tea, juice, or a smoothie is selected the drink is prepared and the gummies are added.

Its all very odd sounding, isn’t it? I agree, I was quite the skeptic at first but I was feeling adventurous and gave it a go; I sure am glad that I did! I highly recommend trying boba one step at a time, start with a fruit smoothie (I enjoy strawberry banana) that contains the “original” tapioca balls and see how you enjoy that before diving into milk teas. This interesting new find is a different and delicious alternative to your every day drink of choice.

Take a leap of faith and give this new found favorite of mine a try, I truly believe that you will not regret it. Below are different locations throughout the valley where Boba is served.
