Getting your car serviced regularly has always been of those necessary inconveniences of owning and driving your own car.  For women it can be intimidating to get your car serviced in what has traditionally been a man’s domain. At Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep, General Manager Coye Pointer understands this and has created a service department to be not only a friendly and easy place for women to take their cars for service but also a great place for women to work. Last month I spoke with Sales Consultant Shelly Lipton of Scottsdale Airpark Chrysler and we talked about Chrysler’s new 200 model.  This month I talked with Service Advisors Bethanne and Lissa about what it’s like for women to work in an automotive service department and how they make the experience for customers easier.

We typically don’t have a choice when we visit the DMV but we always have a choice where we take our car for service. Women have often said they feel men will speak down to them or they can feel intimidated when servicing their car. Walk into the service department at Scottsdale Airpark and it’s very likely you’ll be greeted by Service Advisors Bethanne or Lissa which is a refreshing experience for many women. “I make sure I communicate with them well and treat them well,” says Bethanne who said women often come to her because they are more comfortable talking to her and they feel she has earned their trust.

Airpark has created an environment friendly to women customers by creating a workplace that is friendly to women employees. General Manager Coye Pointer feels that women are often better at relating to other women in the car business and wants to encourage an environment that is friendly for women. As a single mom who works hard, Bethanne enjoys the relationships she establishes with customers and appreciates the benefits that are offered by Airpark.  Lissa enjoys the positive atmosphere with her coworkers and appreciates the challenges and encouragement from Airpark to excel at her job.

Whether you’re looking for a new car, servicing your existing car or just looking for a rewarding work environment go visit Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep, and contact us at SmartFem, I’d like to hear about your experiences as well as any other local businesses that are women friendly.
